Need help setting up dm800 with Com Hem

Hi,

I am completely new to owning and using a dreambox and would very much appreciate any help with configuring it.

I have acquired a Dreambox DM800C and a valid Com Hem subscription. I have flashed it with Gemini 4.1 and a channel search located all the expected channels.
However, inserting the Com Hem card with the chip faced down only lets me view the Com Hem channel. All other channels shows a blank screen.

Can anyone please help me with how and what I still need to install and configure?

Well you must install a cam first. It used to work with Evocamd (which you can get via the blue panel, but I am not sure if the new versions will work) and with Gbox on my DM7025.

I will try to get Comhem card working on my new DM8000 now too so I am curious too which cam work, will experiment.

Install CCcam 2.1.0. Download via blue panel -> Binary + Config file and start CCcam then you will have picture...

I used the blue panel -> settings -> addons -> download (Gemini-server)

and installed Cam -> CCcam 2.1.0 - Complete
and Cam-Configs -> CCcam-Config 2.1.0 - 27.03.2009

Then I switched on Auto-Camd and changed Default Camd -> CCcam 2.1.0 under Auto-Camd settings

I restartet Camd and restartet the dreambox.

Now I still don't get any picture but I do get sound on SVT2 only. I still get sound and picture on the Com Hem channel.

I tried the same with Evocamd and a few others but didn't get any picture or sound that way.

Is there any steps that I am missing? any suggestions?

Try to upgrade the drivers in Gemini.

In telnet type:

ipkg install http://dreamboxupdate.com/opendreamb...0-r0_dm800.ipk

Restart the box when upgrade is complete and try to start CCcam manually again to see if your card is detected.

Also try an older version of CCcam or run NewCS with MgCamd.

Do I need to make any changes in any config files or other when installing eg. CCcam or NewCS?

Nope, if you have your card in the box you don't have to change anything in config files.

This is why you don't get any picture: 16:52:52.624 CCcam: card init fail

Try an older version of CCcam or MgCamd with NewCS...

I managed to get Comhem's card working in DM8000 with CCcam 2.0.11/NewCS 1.65
Do not use CCcam 2.1.0, it's buggy (I got Segmentation fault and Card init fail with it too). Get CCcam 2.0.11 and NewCS 1.65 binaries from the blue panel and their respective configs too.

Then setup camd to CCcam 2.0.11/NewCS 1.65 and restart the camd. If you still don't get the image remove the card and restart the box without it. After it started correctly put the card in, switch the channels and wait for the picture.

I finally (suddenly) got it working with Mgcamd 1.31/NewCS 1.65. I had tried several times both with CCcam 2.1.0, 2.0.11, Evocamd, and Mgcamd without luck - but I guess I had done something wrong those times because now it works.
One thing I did do different this time was - instead of restarting the box after installing the camd - I put it into 'deep standby', powered it off and back on again - when it came online I had picture.
